Voltage converter for the UK the lamp used in North America?
Hello, I recently bought a small lamp in the United Kingdom and I would use it in Canada. However, I know that a) the United Kingdom uses a type of plug and b) that the tension is higher then ours. I know I need a "Step Up" voltage converter. However, I'm not sure what kind of power that should be looking for. I see a ton of 50W, but I have to go higher? If so how high that most people recommend. Thanks
The step transformer has to be able to handle the power the bulb, but it would be better to get one that is slightly larger. If the lamp has a 50 watt bulb get at least a 60-watt transformer. If the bulb is 100 watts go for a 120-watt transformer. But check and see what type of lamp bulb has. Maybe you can find a replacement bulb 110 volts to fit. Then you need not worry about the step up transformer. Just get the cable with the correct plug rewired.
